Bed Bath & Beyond continues to close underperforming stores and plans to close dozens of stores early this year.

The company released a list of 37 locations in 19 states. Liquidation sales at these locations have already begun, and stores are expected to close at the end of February. It includes 5 Bed Bath stores in California, 7 in New York and 1 in New Jersey.

In 2020, Bed Bath announced plans to close approximately 200 core flagship stores within two years as part of its broader transformation efforts. It is also revamping locations to reduce confusion and add brighter signs and new brands.

When Bed Bath announced its third-quarter results on Wednesday, the home furnishings retailer said that it has closed about 170 stores so far and is still expected to reach 200 by the end of the year.

CEO Mark Triton told analysts that the company will explore more closures in the future. It also has the BuyBuy Baby banner, which was a highlight of the business in the most recent quarter, as Bed Bath’s household and toiletries sales slowed.

“We are performing a full transformation while operating the business in a highly unpredictable environment,” Triton said on the earnings call.

Bed Bath’s stock price has fallen by approximately 31% in the past 12 months.
