Benton Harbor, Michigan (WNDU)-The City of Benton Harbor continues to provide free bottled water so that residents have access to safe, clean drinking water.

This is part of an ongoing effort to reduce the risk of exposure to lead in drinking water while the city replaces all lead-containing pipelines. Encourage residents to use bottled water for cooking, drinking, brushing teeth, rinsing food and mixing infant formula milk powder.

Community volunteers from the following organizations can help residents fetch water at the following locations Benton Harbor High School, 870 Colfax Avenue On the following date and time.

Tuesday, January 4

• 12 – 2 pm – Volunteers from COGIC
• 4 – 6 pm – Volunteers from Ebenezer Baptist Church

Wednesday, January 5

• 12 – 2 pm – Volunteers for the purpose of church ministry
• 4 – 6 pm-Volunteers of Purpose Church Ministries

Thursday, January 6

• 12-2 pm-Volunteers from Ebenezer Baptist Church
• 4 – 6 pm – Volunteers from all fraternities

Saturday, January 8

• 12 – 2 pm – Volunteer at the Boys and Girls Club of Benton Harbor
• 2 – 4 pm – Volunteers from the New Testament Community Baptist Church
• 4 – 6 pm – Volunteers of Seventh-day Adventist Church in Hope Port

Sunday, January 9

• 2 – 4 pm – Volunteers from COGIC
• 4 – 6 pm – Volunteers from all fraternities

Monday, January 10

• 12 – 2 pm – Volunteers from COGIC
• 4-6 pm-Volunteers of the New Testament Community Baptist Church

at the same time, Southwest Community Action Bureau, 331 Miller Street, Self-service water collection activities will be held on the following dates and times:

• Wednesday, January 5, 10 am to 2 pm
• Thursday, January 6, 10 am to 2 pm
• Friday, January 7, 10 am to 2 pm
• Monday, January 10, 10 am to 2 pm

Additional dates and locations for bottled water extraction will be added to ensure that community needs are met. The information will be posted on Michigan.gov/MiLeadSafe.
