KILLING, Texas (KWTX) – A Central Texas woman who gave birth to her first child is still battling COVID-19 despite her vaccinations.

Family and friends gathered outside AdventHealth in Killeen on Saturday afternoon to pray for her recovery.

Alexandra Chandler tested positive for coronavirus before emergency C-section. After giving birth to her son Beau and returning home, the pair were taken back to the hospital a few days later with shortness of breath, as a result she was intubated and experienced double pneumothorax with both collapsed lungs.

“I just want more time with her because I’ve never spent so much time without her at home,” her husband James Chandler said.

“We’re going out there and praying for her and I think it means a lot to her. You just have to have complete and complete faith and don’t look at all the negative reasons because it’s a lot. God has a plan. It’s probably not what we have right now. Wanted, but he has a plan for all of us.”

Thankfully, the child is doing better, but Alexandra is still fighting for her life. Family and friends have since started a GoFundMe to help pay for medical bills and shared her story on social media. To their surprise, it has gone viral and friends like Brittany Rodrix say they will seek as much help as they can.

“Alex and I have been to church together, and I know she’s going to hold on to her faith in any of this,” she said.

“So, that’s what I’m trying to do, and despite the disappointing prognosis, I’m still hoping for a miracle and I’m not going to stop praying for a miracle because I know it will happen.”

All are praying and sharing a message with Alexandra, we believe in you.

“There is no one like my wife,” her husband said.

“I just want to tell her I love her. I’ve always loved her and I’ll go see her when she gets home.”
