Damien Ferguson, 43, was detained the day after Officer Dylan Harrison was shot without incident. According to GBI, he has been charged with murder in connection with the shooting, and he has been followed up with another family incident. According to GBI, Ferguson is also known as Luke Ferguson.
“Shortly before 2:30 this afternoon, Damian Anthony Ferguson was detained while executing a search warrant at his residence in Alamo, Georgia,” GBI spokesperson Natalie Amons said.
“Intel provided by the Georgia Bureau of Investigation and the U.S. Marshals Service played an important role in capturing Ferguson,” the post read.
On Saturday morning, 26-year-old Harrison was shot and killed outside the Alamo Police Station in Wheeler County while he was on a shift in his first department. He left his wife and a 6-month-old child.
After a known accomplice of Damien Ferguson had a dispute with Harrison, Harrison was attacked in an “ambush style” outside the Alamo police station. The GBI statement stated that the unnamed man was electrocuted and eventually arrested.
Alamo Police Chief Karen Zander said: “His life was taken away just because of his job.” “We will never forget Officer Harrison and the fact that he made the greatest sacrifice to ensure the safety of each of us. .”
