A New York City man was arrested Monday morning on suspicion of threatening to kidnap and kill former President Donald Trump if he refuses to leave the White House after losing the 2020 election.
Defendant Thomas Vernicki, 72, of Rockaway Beach, Queens, allegedly made multiple calls over the past year to Secret Service offices and other law enforcement agencies to question Trump and more than a dozen unidentified members of Congress. threat. The criminal complaint said.
Trump was not named in the complaint filed in U.S. District Court in Brooklyn. But a footnote in the document identifies Welnicki as someone who will serve as president from January 2017 to January 2021.

Welnicki will appear in federal court in Brooklyn later Monday to face charges.
