Baltimore (WJZ) — Rajaee Black’s ex-girlfriend does not want the public to know her identity. After hearing his so-called rampage, she was still shocked and could not let herself watch the Facebook live video, in which Black seemed to admit to killing his ex-girlfriend Talalabang.

According to police, he recorded a video a few seconds before he was shot and killed at the home of his ex-wife Wendy Black in Columbia on Saturday, while his young children were waiting outside in an SUV.

“He can indeed use weapons,” the ex-girlfriend said. “I absolutely sympathize with the children. I sympathize with all of them-Wendy and Tara.”

She told WJZ investigator Mike Hellgren that they met in March 2019 and broke up a year later. She said he suffered from severe depression-and had never been helped.

“In a way, I feel that I am his only support system, but I must choose my own sanity. I must choose my own happiness. When I broke up with him, I still love him, unbelievable, but I know I must put myself first. I can’t participate because he can’t get help.”

The ex-girlfriend shared a text message sent by Rajaee. He wrote: “There was a time when I was so depressed that I didn’t want to live anymore. It was you who helped me through the difficulties.”

She said she was not afraid of him.

“Jay never scolded me. He never spoke to me. He always told me that he would never hurt me because of my previously abused relationship. That’s how he told me.”

According to court records, his ex-wife Wendy Black filed multiple protection orders but was refused. Last year, she said in her own handwriting: “I am scared because I don’t know what he can do to me and the girls. I don’t think we are safe. I am not safe at all. I think my life is in danger. middle.”

“Many times, when people say their lives are in danger, people don’t take it seriously,” said the ex-girlfriend. “It’s definitely about protecting women. There must be a broken system.”

A colleague of the victim Tara Labang shared a photo with WJZ. He said her smile “can light up a room”, which is devastating for people who know her.

Both the victim and the suspect are nurses.

Tararabong works in St Agnes. Wendy Black works for General Howard County. A friend wrote online that Wendy likes her two children very much and is setting up a trust fund to help support them.

He said the two had never discussed their relationship.

Wendy Black has repeatedly applied for a protection order to protect her ex-husband, saying she is worried about her life. They were repeatedly rejected.

WJZ also talked to a woman who said that she was dating Rajaee Black from March 2019 to March 2020. The woman, who asked not to be named, said that Black needed counseling for severe depression.

Although she said that she was not afraid of him and that he never abused her, she said that there is a “broken system” in protecting women from abuse.
