Read Time:1 Minute, 45 Second

“The three arrested are all 16-year-old males. Therefore, their names will not be published,” the police announced in a written statement on Sunday night. All three were detained for attempted first-degree murder.

Police said the shooting took place around noon on Friday in the parking lot of Hinckley High School in Aurora. Two of the victims were 17 years old and the third was 16 years old.

The motive of the case has not been revealed, but the Aurora police said they believe more people are involved.

On Monday afternoon, six Aurora Central High School students were shot dead in a nearby park. Aurora police chief Vanessa Wilson said the police department is investigating whether the two shootings are related.

“These are our children shooting at each other,” the police chief said. “We don’t respect and care about any life. I need parents to participate. I need you to check the phone. I need you to check the room. I need you to check the car. And make sure they take the guns from these kids.”

Wilson said that in Friday’s shooting, a police officer from Aurora Public School fired back at the gunman before the police arrived at the scene.

On November 19, 2021, parents are reunited with their children outside Hinckley High School in Aurora, Colorado.

“We have three juvenile victims in the local hospital. We are trying to figure out whether some of these people may be our suspects, or some of them are victims,” the police chief told reporters on Friday.

The two victims of Friday’s shooting were students from Hinckley, and the third was a student from APS Avenue School. Wilson said that no one was injured and no life was in danger.

The shooting at Hinckley High School put the school under lockdown. The police said.

The Aurora police also stated that Aurora’s Gateway and Grandview High Schools were threatened by social media. As a precautionary measure, police were sent to these schools.

Aya Elamroussi of CNN contributed to this report.
