
Sinéad O’Connor’s son dies at 17 after disappearance
A Garda spokesman told the Irish Mirror on Friday that a body had been found and police were filing a missing persons report for Shane O’Connor.
The “Nothing Like 2U” musician shared a series of brief statements on her unverified Twitter account, saying her son “decided to end his earthly struggle” and urged others not to do so .
“My beautiful son, Nevi’im Nesta Ali Shane O’Connor, the light of my life, decided today to end his struggles in the world and be with God now. May he rest in peace and may no one follow his example. I Baby. I love you so much. Please keep calm,” O’Connor tweeted.
Irish authorities first released a missing persons statement on Thursday, asking the public to help trace the whereabouts of Sean O’Connor. He has been missing since 6 January.
“Shane was last seen this morning in Tallaght, Dublin 24,” Gardai, the Irish national police force, said in a statement on Thursday.
Following her son’s disappearance, the Irish musician posted a series of tweets desperately begging her son to hand himself over to the authorities.
When asked for comment, Gardai told CNN it could not confirm the veracity of O’Connor’s tweet or the status of Sean O’Connor’s disappearance due to data protection regulations.
“This is for my Shaney. The light of my life. The lamp of my soul. My blue-eyed baby. You will always be my light. We will always be together. No boundaries can separate us,” O’Connor Say.
