The list of strange things attached to Elon Musk continues to grow, and this time, it’s beer. Specifically, it is Gigabeer, or Gigabier in German. what is that? We really don’t know, but it is an adult drink in a container, vaguely reminiscent of a Tesla Cybertruck. Really, this is a small celebration, because Tesla is preparing (hopefully) to start production at its new Gigafactory in Berlin next month.
Last weekend, Musk announced this beer at a special event at the factory. He didn’t say much except for the fact that Tesla will produce it. It may be similar to Tesla Tequila. In a sense, it is a limited edition drink that collectors will pick up and try to save. Tesla tequila bottles, with or without wine in them, can now sell for $1,000. The retail price of the bottle is $250 when it is brand new.
Perhaps Gigabeer will arrive at the end of this year to coincide with the start of potential production at the new plant. When the new Gigafactory goes live, it will be responsible for assembling Model Y to start, but it may also play a role in cheaper Tesla cars in the future. Musk had previously been open to European-centric models such as the Model 3 hatchback.
