Boston (CBS)-Last weekend, a man tore up a surveillance video of an American flag outside the Polish American Citizens Club in Boston and found a man in search.
“Why would anyone come to attack the American flag? It makes me very frustrated,” club member Stasia Kacprzak told WBZ-TV. “I can’t believe it. I’m standing near my car and I’m really shaking.”
On Saturday afternoon, a man slammed a flagpole in Pulaski Park to the ground. He tore up the American flag and took off.
The club shared their surveillance video with the police, and now they are raising funds for repairs. They even forgiven the suspects, and nothing can damage their deep sense of pride in their culture and history.
“It’s shocking, it’s frustrating, it’s actually really sad,” said club member Peter Dziedzic.
The whole thing is so personal for the club, especially because some of the bricks in the park are engraved with the names of members and friends who helped this place become beautiful. Some of them have even passed away.
“It’s like sacred here. We keep in sync with flowers every day, because flowers are the best medicine for everyone. These two days are very emotional. It is very difficult for me. Very difficult,” Stacia added .
“This building has been around for 82 years, and this organization has been around for about 90 years. We feel obligated to ensure that it exists for another 80 years. We are really very proud of it,” Dziedzic said.
If you want to donate for repairs, you can pass This GoFundMe page. Please be sure to indicate in the remarks that it is used for Pulaski Park.
