For most of them, the Mariachi experience did not start in class. Many students learned to play at home and embrace the music that their parents and grandparents grew up with.
Mariachi Los Pasajeros is known for one of the best mariachi shows in the state and won the highest honor at the UIL State Mariachi Festival in Texas. The ensemble received the highest score of 1, which is the highest possible score. They are the only team in Houston to receive this honor.
The orchestra consists of 25 musicians who play guitar, guitar, trumpet, violin, vihuelas and harp. They often perform in places such as the Houston Public Library and local schools.
