On Saturday afternoon, the emergency landing at LaGuardia Airport triggered a major response from the fire and police forces.
The Federal Aviation Administration confirmed that after a “security incident”, Republic Airlines Flight 4817 landed safely at the Queens Airport at around 3 pm. The agency stated that all passengers got off the plane safely.
A spokesperson for the Port Authority told NBC New York that the plane made an emergency landing after passengers reported suspicious behavior on board. Other details of the behavior are unclear.
The spokesperson confirmed that there was “no indication” that the aircraft was under any substantial threat. The pilot of the plane called in an emergency, ready to respond as soon as the plane landed at the airport.
According to the FAA, Flight 4817 departed from Indianapolis to LaGuardia.
The responding agency did not immediately report injuries.
