Waukesha, Wisconsin (CBS 58)-A ribbon-cutting ceremony was held on Tuesday, October 12, officially celebrating the new expansion of the Waukesha County Courthouse.
The four-story security court adds 62,000 square feet to the courtroom.
All criminal and traffic court officials will be relocated to the newly added place, which includes six standard courtrooms, a large-capacity courtroom, and an admission courtroom with an additional bonded room.
The standard and large-capacity court has its own victim witness room, prison cell and conference room.
“The court exists to serve the people,” Chief Judge Jennifer Dorow said. “However, the judiciary may be the least-known department of the government. Some people understand the court system only by what they see and hear in the news. Many people may never step into the courts, but those who have the opportunity People who come to this beautiful and modern building will definitely leave a deep impression.”
Court officials will relocate to the newly added place in phases, and it is planned to be fully operational in early 2022.
